The function of this series is to document environmental protection by the State. This series consists of court proceedings, pleadings, transcripts, correspondence, reports, maps, newspaper clippings, and other material that document the state's legal actions against parties who endanger public health and the environment, or who violate pollution and environmental laws. The records contain the names of the defendants, plaintiffs, attorneys, and witnesses; and include a description of the case and the final disposition. Among the more prominant cases are: Chemical Waste Management, Environmental Defense Fund, Mobil Oil, James Cloud v. Olin Co., Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), and Vulcanus Ocean Incineration.
